Middle Ages is the culmination of a multi-year remote collaboration between longtime friends and songwriters Kevin Heckeler and Scott Watts. Their prior alternative rock concept album Missing Pieces was favorably received. After a break, they reconvened to making music in 2020 like so many others at the time. Initially it was just random song ideas, but eventually Scott found common themes and started molding them into a single narrative ('Middle Age'). Weekly songwriting sessions allowed Scott to be heavily involved in the note-by-note composition of the songs, bringing fresh and unique ideas to life that otherwise may never have been achievable without advancements in technology. Middle Ages was mixed in 5.1 surround sound and Dolby Atmos by Jared Good.
