Over the last decade Phillip Serna has emerged among the nation’s leading advocates of the viol – the viola da gamba. Co-founding Black Tulip & ViolMedium, he’s collaborated with distinguished historical-performance ensembles including the Bella Voce Sinfonia, the Callipygian Players, Indianapolis Baroque Orchestra, the Newberry Consort, the Second City Musick, et al. 'Uitnement Kabinet, "the Excellent Cabinet," is collection of instrumental music published in Amsterdam in the mid-17th century, including a breadth of instrumental repertoire by composers of various nationalities for instruments including the recorder, violin and viola da gamba. Among the many composers included in 't Uitnement Kabinet was Alfonso Ferrabosco the Younger (ca.1578-1628), a prolific English composer of viol music and viola da gamba player of Italian descent who served as a musician in the court of Elizabeth I. These recordings were performed, recorded, mixed & mastered February 2022 at Dwarf Star Audio in Plainfield, IL.
